EMF Radiation: Safety and Prevention

This is a big topic that I wish more people were thinking about more seriously.

EMF radiation is something that we all deal with in the modern world. Many of us work on our laptops, cell phones, ipads and other gadgets every single day, often for hours on end. Our children attend schools and live in homes with wireless wifi. To a certain extent it is just a fact of life at this point, however, just because it's becomes the norm doesn't mean that it doesn't cause harm. It's important to know more about this so that we can make conscious choices about how we interact with EMFs.

EMF stands for electromagnetic frequency and this is a form of radiation that is emitted by your wifi router, ear pods/buds, smart watches, microwaves, baby monitors, any and all electronic devices (especially if they use Smart technology), your TV, and even your car (especially if it's a newer model, an electric vehicle, or if you've enabled bluetooth). When you really start to look into it, you'll quickly realize that you are literally bathed in this form of radiation all day long.

There are two books that I think everyone should have in their home library that relates to this topic. One is called The Invisible Rainbow by Arthur Firstenberg, MD, and the other is called The Non-Tinfoil Guide to EMFs by Nicolas Pineault. The first book will give you a very clear and thorough understanding of why this is a concern and the historical context, the second book will give you practical tips that you can implement today. This article will also endeavour to do that.

Why Are EMFs a Concern?

There are many answers to this question but the one that I want to highlight is that man-made EMFs interfere with our ability to interact with the Earth's native EMF. The human body is an electric organism and requires a certain frequency for optimal health. The Earth emits it's own electromagnetic frequency and this is something that has been very healing for human beings across the planet up until very recently in human evolution. When we are bathed in non-native (man-made) EMFs, it interferes with our ability to connect to the healing frequency of our planet. The man-made version of EMF has been consistently shown to damage our health overall.

What Damage Can EMF's Cause?

Various different physiologic issues but the research consistently finds concerns in the following areas:

  • lowered sperm counts and fertility rates

  • birth defects

  • neurological issues including headaches, brain fog, memory concerns, ADHD, etc.

  • increased cancer risk

  • unexplained fatigue

  • insomnia and other sleep disturbances

Are Children Uniquely Vulnerable?

Yes. A developing nervous system is far more vulnerable than a fully developed one. A fully developed nervous system takes 25 years in females and 26 years in males. The other reality to acknowledge is that EMF radiation is cumulative over a lifetime, meaning, the earlier a child is exposed, the worse off they will be statistically as they get older.

How Can We Protect Ourselves?

There are a lot of ways to protect yourself and your home from EMF radiation.

  • never physically have a device on your body, put it on a table or desk.

  • use headphones or speaker phone when talking on the phone (avoid ear pods, when you measure the output it is through the roof)

  • don't sleep with your cell phone in your bed or near your head

  • put your phone on airplane mode if you don't need to use it

  • don't type on your computer or scroll your phone when it's charging

  • turn off your wifi at night (or if you can, hard wire your wifi connection)

  • disable bluetooth on your cellphone and your vehicle

  • if you live in or near a building with a 5g tower on top I would strongly consider moving

  • never allow your children to play, sleep, or spend any length of time around a wifi router

  • consider products that can help reduce the effects like a somavedic, for example
